The Applied Research group consists of members from a range of disciplines (engineers, scientists, technical staff) which generates a specialized multidisciplinary approach to biomedical engineering.
The team’s research concentrates on the experimental and numerical investigation of the interactions between biological and technical systems in the field of cardiovascular engineering. A special emphasis lays on the understanding of blood damage (e.g. thrombogenesis, hemolysis) due to technical systems as well as the development of numerical and experimental test methods for blood damage prediction. The results contribute to the development of future medical devices by the Department of Cardiovascular Engineering (CVE) as new approaches are promoted and existing apllications are improved.
