Science Management

Considering biomedical research as a one of many other parts of the innovation chain, we explore the process of discovery and its possible acceleration, future direction and constraints. Special emphasis is placed om the role of science. The increasing complexity of medical devices tends to lengthen the time-to-market, which currently already covers 5-10 years from invention to clinical use. The science management group focuses on:

  • Research on determinants of technology transfer
  • Efficiency of ICT-support in biomedical research
  • Technology-Foresights and Forecasts for the future of biomedical innovation
  • Outcome evaluation of research programs and funding

In addition to the aforementioned, we are developing the Biomedical Cluster at the RWTH Aachen Campus in order to foster strategic R&D-collaboration between academia and industry thus providing a shared research space, knowledge exchange, training, recruiting and much more.
